This week I started my research stay at the Department of Gender Studies, Central European University in Vienna 📍 Over the next month, in consultation with Prof. Elissa Helms and other fantastic researchers, I will be developing my research on women's experiences, inequalities in professional and social advancement, and the emotions that accompany them.
Beyond the research, I’m excited to be working on this project at CEU 🎓. The University was founded in Budapest in 1991 as an institution often associated with academic freedom and democratic values. 🌍 However, in 2018/19, as a result of the actions of Viktor Orbán's government, which gradually restricted the independence of academia, CEU was forced to move its headquarters to Vienna.
The Viennese academic scene is an important centre for gender studies, feminism and postcolonialism. In addition to my research, I will develop my knowledge of the history of gender studies, feminist archival research and multiple inequalities in the states of the USSR.
I am happy to have the opportunity to work here until April – it will be an intense and inspiring time! 📚✨
