This week I’m in Athens 🏛️ with NEXT-GENDER: Inclusive research for the next generation at Capacity-Building Workshop “Shifting Perspectives: How Gender and Intersectionality Drive Frontier Research”!

It’s an intense time filled with thinking, discussion, and, perhaps above all, practice ✍️ We’ve gathered in a truly international and interdisciplinary group, ranging from the social sciences and humanities to the life sciences and STEM, where the gender perspective is still less common but is increasingly becoming crucial to the quality of research.

Our collaborative work shows how easy it is to overlook the gender & intersectionality perspectives and how significantly this affects the way research questions are framed, methods are designed, and results are interpreted 📊 In European programs such as Horizon Europe, ERC, and MSCA, incorporating the gender dimension is a formal requirement in research projects – both at the team level and in the research content itself. This encourages researchers from various disciplines to integrate this perspective into their projects, not as an “add-on” but as an element that enhances the accuracy and reliability of results (I hope).

And that is the goal of our entire meeting: to develop proposals for next research projects!📝 stay tuned!
